St Michael's Church
St Michael's is a Grade II* Listed Building No 1201930 and the most dominant feature of the Malton Market Square. The oldest part of the building is the church nave dating from c1150 being Norman in original construction.
Apart from the Perpendicular period -C15-west tower, the majority of the internal construction is C19. The chancel was constructed in 1858 and transepts in 1883. The roof is of slate.
The north and south walls have four clerestory windows and the south wall was reconstructed in the mid 1960's. It now requires major repairs to due to the ingress of water in the poor mortar.

The tower was repaired in 2006 with the help of an English Heritage grant of £70,000. The original scheme was estimated at £130,000 but substantial poor construction raised this to just under £200,000.
The font , according to Pevsner, may be of Jacobean period and is circular. The entrance doors are of late 1980's construction. There is oak furniture of 'mouseman' origin in the chancel.
